Surah 89 (Al-Fajr), Verses 15-30 (Y6)

As-salaam wa-alaikum, brothers and sisters.

Summary

Today’s episode concludes Surah 90, Al-Fajr or the Dawn, verses 15-30. These verses deal with trials and tribulations of Man and how he takes good fortune for granted and mistakenly wails in indignation when things don’t go his way when in reality, he did not deserve glad tidings. The Day of Judgment will be too late for him to change his ways.

Verses

Bis-millahi ar-rahman, ar-raheem.
In the name of Allah, most gracious, most merciful.

Now, as for man, when his Lords tries him, giving him honor and gifts, Then he says (puffed up), “My Lord has honored me.”[15]

But when Allah tries man, restricting his subsistence for him, he he says (in despair), “My Lord has humiliated me!”[16]

Nay, nay! But you honor not the orphans![17] Nor do you encourage one another to feed the poor!-[18] And you devour Inheritance- all with greed, [19] And you love wealth with inordinate love![20]

Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder,[21] And your Lord comes and His angels, rank upon rank,[22] And Hell, that day, is brought (face to face)- On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?[23]

He will say, “Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (future) life!”[24]

For, that Day, his chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict,[25] And his bonds will be such as none (other) can bind[26].

(To the righteous soul will be said:) “O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction![27] Come back thou to thy Lord- Well pleased (thyself) and will-pleasing unto Him![28] Enter thou, then, among my devotees![29] Yea, enter thou My Heaven!”[30]

Ameen.
