Today’s selection concludes Surah 44, Adh-Dukhân or the Smoke, with verses 43-59. These verses lays out the food and drink which will be given to the sinners in Hell and the food and entertainment for the righteous who will go to Heaven.

Verses
Bis-millahi ar-rahman, ar-raheem.
In the name of Allah, most gracious, most merciful.
Surely, the tree of Zaqqûm[43] shall be the food of the sinners;[44] it will be like the dregs of oil, which shall boil in the bellies,[45] like the boiling of scalding water.[46] It will be said: “Seize him and drag him into the depth of the hell,[47] then pour scalding water over his head[48] – Taste this! Verily, You were pretending to be the mighty noble![49] 44:[44-49]
This is the punishment which you use to doubt.”[50] 44: [43-50] Surely, the righteous, will be in a secure place;[51] among gardens and springs,[52] dressed in fine silk and rich brocade, sitting face to face.[53] 44:[50-53]
Such shall be their place! And We shall join them to companions with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.[54] There, in full peace, they shall call for every kind of fruit;[55] and after having prior death in this world, they shall taste death no more; and He (Allah) will protect them from the torment of hell[56] as a grace from your Rabb, and that will be the supreme achievement.[57] Surely, We have made this Qur’an easy by revealing it in your own language so that they may take heed.[58] If they do not accept the admonition then wait; surely, they too are waiting.[59] 44:[54-59]
Tafseer
Regarding the tree of Zaqqûm:
The opposite of delicious fruits is the terrible tree of Zaqqûm, a bitter and pungent tree described as growing at the bottom of Hell, a type of all that is disagreeable.
Regarding verse 49, which talks about those who pretended to be of noble blood:
In this particular Surah, the besetting sin we are considering is the arrogance born of place or power, wealth or honour, as understood in this world. The punishment of ignominy looks back to the kind of sin which is to be punished.
