Tafseer for this selection draws the conclusion in verse six which is setup by the first five verses of the selection.

Today’s selection is from Surah 20, Tâ-Hâ, Verses 55-76. These verses continue the story of Prophet Moses’ struggle against the Pharaoh of Egypt. It details how Pharaoh did not believe in Moses’ miracles, the confrontation between Moses and Pharaoh’s magicians and then Pharaoh’s conversation with his magicians after they had witnessed the miracles of Moses.

Today’s selection is from Surah 40, which goes by two names, Ghãfir which means Forgiver or Al-Mu’min or the Believer, verses 21-37. These verses claim that those who denied the Prophets and God’s revelations were all destroyed, case in point, the Pharaoh of Egypt and his leaders, Hamãn and Qarün. The Pharaoh intended to kill Prophet Moses but even one of his relatives gave a speech in favor of the Prophet.

Today’s selection is the entirety of Surah 66, At-Tahrïm or the Prohibition, verses 1-12. The topics covered in this Surah are: do not make something lawful which Allah has made unlawful. The wives of the Prophet (pbuh) are admonished regarding their behavior with him. Believers are commanded to turn to Allah in repentance. And lastly, the example of the wives of Noah and Lot who will go to Hell while the wives of the Pharaoh of Egypt and Maryam, mother of Prophet Jesus, will go to Paradise.

Today’s selection is Surah 38, Sâd, verses 1-26. Overall this Surah talks about how spiritual strength is superior to physical strength. The verses selected talk of the arrogance of the unbelievers in rejecting the message of the Prophets sent to them by God. It tells the story of Prophet Daûd, or David, and the two men who came to him asking for his guidance in a dispute.
