Eid, Hadiths and Surahs 112-114 (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas) (Y6)

As-salaam wa-alaikum, brothers and sisters.

Summary

Today is Eid ul-Fitr, or the Breakfast Festival, as I like to call it. It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. So I wanted to wish you all Eid Mubarak, Ramzan Mubarak, etc.

As I was searching for verses for today’s episode, I remembered that Eid ul-Fitr is not actually mentioned in the Qur’an. At all. Yes, there are directives regarding prayer and charity and of course fasting and a whole multitude of rules. But no specific mention of the celebration we know today as Eid. Hadith – Doing Good No Matter What

In light of the terrorist attacks in New Zealand and Sri Lanka, it behooves us to remember that doing good is not optional. Nor is it conditional on others doing good to you.

"Do not be the people without minds of your own; saying that if others treat you well, you will treat them well; and that if they do wrong, you will do wrong to them. Instead, accustom yourself to do good if people do good, and not to do wrong, even if they do evil."
- Prophet Muhammad, quoted by Al Tirmidhi
